Preparation for Week 1 of My Meet Training

Welcome,

If you have made it back or you are just visiting for the first time, thank you for visiting my blog. I am using this blog to track my progression of my training as I prepare for the 2017 USAPL Arizona State Championships on April 8-9, 2017. The training program is one that I have put together from programs from a few powerlifters and strength coaches. I have followed the advice of these individuals in preparation for previous meets and have seen great progress. I decided to combine the elements that I feel work best for me in to one program to, hopefully, push me to the next level in competition.

My preparation cycle is twelve weeks long and it consists of two, four week, strength blocks and one, four week, peaking block. These blocks consist of three overload weeks and one deload week. The strength blocks consist of two squat, bench, and accessory days, as well as, one deadlift day during the overload phase. The strength block deload days have one day per lift which is followed up by an accessory day 24 hours later. The peaking block consists of one training day per week for the squat and deadlift and two training days for the bench press along with two accessory days. The peaking block deload consists of two training days for all lifts with the other days used for warming up and working on mobility to promote rest and recovery. I have added a picture below to show my training overview. I will, also, be covering these blocks in detail as I approach them. Future posts will also be covering the powerlifters, coaches, and their contributions that I used to build my training cycle.

Have a great day and keep lifting!
